A Plot: Worried that Beverly will remain as the school's Quaker Warden even after her last child has graduated, Principal Ball makes a deal with Adam to try and convince her to retire.
B Plot: Tired of Geoff's parents giving him a large list of chores whenever they have Sunday dinner together, Erica suggests that they stop visiting.
- Disaster Dominoes: Barry's failures at doing chores for the Schwartz family leads to a chain of events that end with Lou injured in front of his refrigerator.
- Extreme Doormat: The B Plot's crux is that Geoff is easily manipulated by his parents and needs to stand up for himself, without letting himself be convinced by Erica to cut them out of his life entirely. In the end, he's able to find a middle-ground that everyone finds acceptable.
- Gone Horribly Wrong: Adam successfully convinces Beverly to start a new chapter in her life, just like how he and Dave Kim will be going to a university in New York...but he's aghast when Beverly decides her next chapter is tagging along with them, leading him to make a video that convinces her to stay at the school.
- I Have No Son!: When Erica suggests that they stop visiting for Sunday dinner, Lou and Linda Schwartz spin it as Geoff no longer loving them and outright abandoning them in their twilight years.
- Replacement Goldfish: After declaring that Geoff has stopped loving them for no longer doing chores for them, Lou and Linda Schwartz decide to replace him and Erica with Barry and Joanne for their Sunday dinners...except that Barry's attempts to do chores in Geoff's place are complete failures.
- Vitriolic Best Buds: By the end of the A Plot, when Ball considers retiring himself just to get away from Beverly, Adam helps convince the entire teaching staff (except Mr. Glascott, who genuinely appreciates his friendship with Beverly) that as much as they may dislike Beverly's interference, she's genuinely brought out the best in them and the students.
