Everyone are drawing lots to decide their order of turns and their team. In each round players are taking turns putting numbers on 2 rows. If they fill both rows with 15 numbers and don't exceed 1000 — loyalists win. Rebels who are hidden among loyalists win if they manage to exceed 1000 on either of rows.

When player enters dealer's room they are presented with with 4 digits. Player then makes a number from these digits to put on either row A or B. They don't have to use all digits from the set however the new number must be bigger than the last one in a row. Player can increase number of digits by 1 at a time.

After everyone makes their turn, they vote on who will be the king. King then puts suspected rebels in jail. These two won't be choosing a number or voting on the next round.

If the game ends by either team's win condition all non-jailed players vote to determine the final king who will get a token of life and get to decide who to put in prison. If king puts two rebels in jail in final round these 2 jailed rebels lose even if they exceeded 1000 and will be playing deathmatch. Because of this rule one rebel can betray 2 others, reveal their identities and make sure they are in the jail at the end.

Dongmin who played a lot of Mafia/Werewolf type games takes charge and says loyalists should just stay together in one room to prevent any hidden collusion between rebels. He also notes that they shouldn't send two suspected rebels to jail because if they are, the jail becomes a perfect opportunity for them to talk among themselves. They should be arresting one suspect and one loyalist to keep an eye on potential rebel. Dongmin's strategy is to completely stifle rebels' operation and force one of them to turn on others.

Before main match starts, players are shown a closed envelope that has an entire sequence of numbers that players will be seeing. Junseok notes that numbers must be either in a pattern or be some known sequence like Pi number.

Kyunghoon comes in first, he sees 1415 and puts 1. 1415 matches first 4 decimal digits of Pi. If they will figure out the entire sequence they can predict what 4 digits each player will see and will dictate what minimal number they should put out and prevent shenanigans from rebels.

Dongmin and others ask for Hyunmin for digits of Pi but he only knows the first eight. The other math wiz, Jungmooon claims to have memorized 100 digits of Pi ("for fun"). Second set of digits matches with further digits of Pi and loyalists are joyful because knowing the pattern they can say what to put to each player and any deviation from the player will outs them as rebels.

Kyunghoon then notices Yoohyun acting weird and writing notes that he doesn't want to show. Dongmin calms them down and tells everyone to stay put in one room and not to do anything suspicious. He is elected king and decides to put Jinho and Kyungran to jail.

In 2nd round Yoohyun enter dealers room. He is being suspected by Kyunghoon, and feels like he might not have another chance. He outs himself as rebel putting 99, maximum number, on B. B will now inevitably go to 3 digits on next round, and Yoohyun only needs another rebel to go over 1000 on B.

During round 2 Dongmin gathers all players and reveals that he suspects Kyungran as second rebel by her out-of-character behavior. He will be keeping 2 suspected rebels in jail till the end and urges the last rebel among them to reveal himself. He sets ultimatum for the rebel to out himself immediately, looks straight at Jungmoon and says "so how about it, Jungmoon?". She finally cracks and admits it.

Flashback. Jungmoon is second rebel and she gave loyalist 70 digits of Pi hoping this will convince them she is not a rebel. Loyalists don't trust her enough to make her the king so Yeonseung becomes one. He replaces Jinho with Yoohyun in prison and they decide to end the game by going over 1000 deliberately because they were ensured by Dongmin and Jungmoon that Kyungran is the third rebel. If she is — she and Yoohyun will lose and go to Deathmatch.

Jinho after spending an hour in a prison with Kyungran is convinced she is a loyalist and claims shenanigans, but most people trust Dongmin's judgment more and they end the game by going over 1000.

They vote for the final time and elect Dongmin. Kyunghoon thinks that there is a chance Jungmoon is playing them and tries to convince Dongmin to make it certain and instead jail two certain rebels: Yoohyun and Jungmoon. Dongmin however can not back down from his agreement with Jungmoon, trusts his intuition and keeps Yoohyun and Kyungran in jail, despite latter's loud protests.

Kyungran was indeed the last rebel and she and Yoohyun are playing Deathmatch. Kyungran thinks it would be okay to lose to professional poker player in a card game so she doesn't eliminate either of poker games, and indeed one of them is drawn. They are playing Indian Poker.

Dongmin instructs Kyungran on card counting and betting strategy and using that and her experience of losing Indian Poker to Jinho in season 1 finale, she wins the game eliminating Yoohyun.

Tropes:

  • Chekhov's Skill: Jungmoon memorized 100 digits of Pi. For fun. It becomes useful when Pi digits are used for number sequence in this game.
  • Out-of-Character Alert: how Dongmin figures out Kyungran despite her convincing play.
  • Prisoner's Dilemma: "Loyalists and Rebels" is designed to encourage one of the rebels to betray others in exchange for safety. After pressured by Dongmin, Jungmoon breaks and dooms the Yoohyun and Kyungran to Deathmatch.
