- Blatant Lies: Sonic is short on rent and claims "[he's] good for the rest of it", despite being so broke that he's watching a poster instead of a TV.
- Foreshadowing: When Tails mentions that Sonic blew his money on coke and Dreamcast stock, Sonic retorts that it was Tails who gave him the stock tip in the first place. Tails makes a comment that implies he deliberately screwed Sonic out of his money, foreshadowing Tails' Face–Heel Turn at the end of Season 3.
- Freeze-Frame Bonus: During the scene where the Spinning Paper shows that Sonic is washed up and delivering newspapers, there are some other headlines visible, such as "Dolph Lundgren cast as Bald Bull" and "Luigi Still Sucks".
