Captain Murphy is no longer on Sealab, gone to lead the armies in the "Great Spice Wars", meaning Sealab needs a new captain. The replacement comes in the form of Tornado Shanks, a former football coach and health instructor, who promptly tackles everyone, injuring Sparks. Quinn protests that Shanks is wholly unqualified to take command, and that they don't need a football coach, but is overridden by all the people who sign up to join Shanks's football team, namely Marco, Stormy, and the entire security department. Even Debbie gets in on it, asking to be head cheerleader, with Hesh as her backup.
As Sparks is taken care of by Virjay, Shanks keeps trying to convince Quinn to become his quarterback, but is interrupted by Debbie Love, who it turns out was a star quarterback back in her college days and even won the Heisman trophy.
Debbie tries to cheer Sparks (now wearing a neck brace) up by cheering, but it just drives him nuts, while Quinn is still mad that Sealab has become football obsessed. Shanks introduces the team to the Marianas Trench Prison for Criminally Insane Robots, a prison full of the worst robots. But he reassures them they won't be playing the robots-they'll be playing the guards, who are much tougher than the prisoners.
At first, the play field is much too small for them, with the guards and Sealab's team scrunched up together (and Stormy playing grabass with one of the guards) until Shanks activates a shrink ray to get them to a small enough size to play. When Sealab's team see that the guards still tower over them, they refuse to play. Shanks convinces them to play by claiming that the guards' coach killed his parents, and the team rallies...at least until Quinn starts testing the play field.
While Shanks grows back to normal size and confronts Quinn about messing with the field, the guards' coach outs Shanks as a liar, introducing Shanks's parents. Shanks calls Quinn and anyone else that doesn't join his football team a sissy, accidentally stomping on the guards in the process.
Stormy, Marco and Debbie Love grow back to normal size and Debbie tries to confront Shanks about lying, but all he gets out of it is that the guards are dead and therefore forfeit the game, leaving Sealab undefeated. Quinn tries to relieve Shanks from command and kick him off Sealab, but Shanks reveals he's under contract-he's captain and here to stay. And he tells them if they have a problem with it, they can go watch anime.
