Tropes

  • An Ascop: Roseanne tells Darlene that she doesn't have the things she loves just because she's a woman (for Darlene getting it's tomboy stuff).
  • Double Meaning: The episode deals with The Conner children being frightened by a horror movie and Darlene getting her first period at 11.
  • Foreshadowing: Darlene has a very nasty rude attitude towards her siblings while trying to talk to her parents. Then she drops the wham line.
  • Shout-Out:
    • The title is a reference to "Nightmare on Elm Street".
    • A sleep deprived Roseanne complains that she was up all night "ghostbusting" thanks to Darlene.
  • The Talk: Roseanne gives Darlene when she is attempting to get rid of her sports and tomboy stuff.
  • Wham Line: Darlene to her parents: "I got my period, okay!?"
