Chapter 1: The Exposition
The reader is introduced to the Token Trio of Rosie, Tom, and Jackson, who have a generic day at Generic High School. They attend their math class alongside the local loser stereotype, Alexa. At the end of the class, the teacher Mr. Randall gives Alexa a You Are Better Than You Think You Are speech. At the end of the school day, Jackson walks Alexa home and she very bluntly comes out to him.
Chapter 2: The Strange Place
Rosie, Tom, Jackson, and Alexa, along with Rosie's brother Ben and Alexa's brother Max, wake up in a strange new place, where they learned they have been placed into the identities of the Save-Ums. They are not at all happy with these new changes, but they do not have the time to fix them as they receive a call for help.
Chapter 3: The First Mission
The call is revealed to be coming from Lava World. Oscar and Tina need help retrieving their missing ball. Jackson, Alexa, and Max go out to help them, though they are slowed down as they have trouble activating the launch pad. Once there, they find the ball and escape the jungle just before the volcano erupts.
Chapter 4: The Obligatory Sad Scene
After a Time Skip to night, the six (now dubbed the Fake-Ums) chill out in the dorm rooms, which leads to a conversation about stereotypes and how the media views teenage characters in high school films.
