Kate and Magic get up early and head out to find Princess Ava again, knowing that it won’t be long until Kate will return to school. They visit the local library and meet Emily, a girl who loves cats and wished to own one, but cannot due to her mother’s fear of them. Emily tells Kate and Magic that words are not enough to convince her mother that cats aren’t all that bad. A Friendship Trail flies out and enters the Friendship Heart.
In Pocketville, Kate and Magic get the Pocketpedia activated again, to where the book shows them an image of several cats of different breeds surrounding a question mark. Kate and her friends head to the town square to ask all the cats in Pocketville about what advice to give Emily’s mother. Meanwhile in the Ever Grey Swamp, the image of a question mark appears in Eva’s half of the Friendship Heart. Eva tells Zull and Gort to find Krakia, who has already gone out to Pocketville to spy on the Royal Guards.
The first cat, Milo, tells the Royal Guards that Emily’s mother should get a dog, which is not all that helpful. The next cat, named Ellie, simply tells them that cats are lovable and nice, though two cats behind her had a brief tiff with each other that proved otherwise. However, Camo, a tabby cat which Magic had known since they both were in school, had one simple advice to give: to say nothing. Then, the Royal Guards, with the exception of Balloon, head to the castle kitchen where they find a Magic Drop, all thanks to Danny’s sense of smell.
Eva and her gang meet Camo and convince him to join her gang as Emily’s mother may try to hurt him. When he turns down the offer, Zull and Gort try to capture him, but the Winged Guards, accompanied by Balloon, scare them off and get Eva to flee again as they had caught Krakia spying again.
Camo is sent to Emily via the Friendship Ceremony, where Emily gets excited for a bit until her mother escorts her away. But Camo had other plans as he finds a flower to present to Emily’s mother, and afterwards, acts affectionately to prove to her that cats aren’t as scary as she thought.
Later, Ava walks through an alleyway, visibly sick and weakened, and suddenly meets a stray dog who is concerned about her. This frightens her, and she immediately flees.
