Recap / Power Rangers S.P.D. S1E1 Beginnings Part 1

Go To

In the year 2025, Earth has become quite an advanced place. Newtech City is one where humans coexist with and live alongside aliens. 99% of these aliens are peaceful creatures who want to prosper alongside everyone else, but the other 1% are dangerous criminals. An intergalactic law enforcement organization named SPD (Space Patrol Delta), exists to fight these criminals and bring them to justice, and a branch on Earth was established around the beginning of the 21st century.

Three B-Squad SPD cadets named Schuler "Sky" Tate, Bridge Carson, and Sydney Drew fight one of these criminals; each use their superpowers in the fight; Sky creates a forcefield to repel an attack, Bridge uses his aura to sense and dodge an onslaught, and Syd morphs her hand into metal using a coin and fights with it. Then the fight is revealed to be a training simulation run by SPD scientist Kat Manx, with Chief Gadget Tester Boom playing the role of the criminal. SPD Commander Anubis "Doggie" Cruger, after realizing that Emperor Gruumm, the evil Supreme Leader of the Troobian Empire, is on his way to Earth, sends the A-Squad off on a mission and summons the B-Squad to do the same. B-Squad's mission is to apprehend the "Parkington Market thieves" who happen to be two small-time human criminals named Elizabeth "Z" Delgado and Jack Landors. After Z tricks Syd by using her powers to duplicate herself, she and Jack fight the cadets, come off victorious, and get away. Back at SPD HQ, Cruger reprimands the B-Squad and takes Sky for a test of character.

After they give everything they stole, Z suggests to Jack that they give up their lifestyle. Jack agrees...after they do one last job. Cruger asks Sky what he would do if Syd were to be appointed Red Ranger, and Sky responds dejectedly, and does the same when Cruger asks of Bridge. Meanwhile, Jack ends up being given a strange device by an alien running away from a Krybot before he and Z deliver their next shipment. Cruger, knowing Gruumm will arrive very soon, elevates B-Squad to active ranger status, and gives them their morphers, which also double as judgement scanners to be used on criminals, as Kat demonstrates on Boom.

As the B-Squad arrives at the shipment location to apprehend Z and Jack, they fight again and are on the losing side. But just before Sky can confine them, Gruumm's Bluehead arrives looking for the device and summons an army of Krybots. Z and Jack use the opportunity to get away, and B-Squad is left to stand on their own against the Bluehead and its army.
