Recap / Numberjacks S 1 E 41 Two Four Six Eight

Go To

In the gym, Two is prepared to jump two steps at a time on a path. Three is a bit disappointed that he didn't jump on her number, but he completes the path. Four explains that counting by twos doesn't include three, but Three still sulks. She has Two try again, but that of course doesn't work.

Then, the alarm goes off, so Three and Four go to the control room, where Agent 79 reports that a boy's number has disappeared from his remote-controlled toy car. Also, the twos, fours, and sixes from some dice are missing. Six is launched (with Jasper watching) and lands on an address number (despite Four having a bit of trouble finding sixes).

Another agent reports a problem with a woman's cell phone. Six takes a look and it turns out that some of the numbers are missing: two, four, six, and eight. Five wonders why those numbers in particular are disappearing and the agents observe that those are the numbers you get if you count by twos.

The Numbertaker then peeks out from behind a tree, and Four looks at data on the screen to prove that he is indeed the thief. The Numbertaker goes on and steals a two, a four, a six and an eight in that order from house numbers. Six is less confident now and wants help, so Four decides to send Eight out.

Five imagines the Numbertaker making people unable to use both hands, children go straight from being three years old to being five, boxes fall to pieces, and a spider unable to use one of her legs (leaving her with only seven working legs).

The Numbertaker then forces a man to hop on one leg and causes people to have trouble moving their baby buggies. Five wonders why that is, but then the agents realise that it's because of the wheels: one has four, one has six, and a third has eight.

Eight shows up and Six decides they need a plan. An agent has an idea: make a pattern of two, four, six, eight. Four goes to retrieve Two while Three takes over as screen operator. When Four comes back with Two, they hop into the brain gain machine and use the brain gain to get everything back to normal.

The Numbertaker then tries to take Six or Eight but can't decide who to take. Then, a man and his dog show up and the Numbertaker has a hard time deciding whether to affect the man's legs, the dog's legs, take Six, or Eight. Then, his indecision apparently makes him disappear, so Six and Eight come back.

They recap the episode, and then the whole cast except for Zero meet in the gym. The even numbers sing a rhyme about how they're multiples of two, but Three is jealous. Nine, to cheer Three up, leads the odd numbers in a rhyme about themselves. Zero then arrives and Nine wonders which group he belongs in. Three asks the viewers to decide.

This episode provides examples of

  • Baby See, Baby Do: When Four says, "Two, Four, Six, Eight", Two copies.
  • Bad People Abuse Animals: Five imagines the Numbertaker making a spider's leg stop working.
  • Double-Meaning Title: This episode comes from the fact that two, four, six, and eight were the numbers being taken and the fact that the day was saved by Two and Four in the brain gain machine helping Six and Eight outside.
  • Foreshadowing: One sign that the numbers disappearing are multiples of two is when the one, three, and five are still on the die, and when Four can't find many sixes for Six to land on.
