In a flashback set many years in the past a young Sorceress is preparing for a ritual to become one with the universe. In her sanctuary a young Duncan is there along with a baby. This baby is revealed to be Teela and the Sorceress and Duncan are revealed to be her biological parents. The Sorceress puts paint, similar to the ones adorned on her body, on Teela's forehead as a form of protection. Duncan promises to protect their child but the Sorceress encourages him to train her as, one day, she will protect him and the world.

The Sorceress says her farewell to her love and her child, telling Teela that the majesty of the universe will seem small compared to the joy she felt after her daughter was born. With that she is transported deep into a cave and submerges herself in a lake. As the marks on her body glow so to does the one on Teela's forehead.

In the present the Sorceress has finished restoring magic to Eternia and she and Duncan share a soft glance with each other. However their moment is ruined by the arrival of Skeletor and his Evil Warriors who capture Duncan and keep him hostage with the rest of the prisoners.

Skeletor mockingly notes that the Sorceress has made herself weak by returning magic to Eternia instead of empowering herself. He notes that, with his new godlike powers, he can see creation in its entirety and has witnessed countless civilizations fall. He states that with his new powers the world will remember the day that Skeletor finally vanquished He-Man.

Adam, still gravely wounded, stands up to him telling him that, while he may no longer be He-Man, he is still Prince Adam protector of the Secrets of Castle Greyskull. He then calls for his fearless companion Cringer to attack, who knocks Evil-Lyn's staff away freeing the Heroic Warriors.

Teela tries to get Adam away from Skeletor but the effort proves in vain, Skeletor is too powerful and quickly turns the tide of the battle. With the heroes cornered the Sorceress regains her magic and stands in the Evil Warriors way holding them back. However the Sorceress is too weak and doesn't have the power to stand up against Skeletor, instead she holds him back and prepares to teleport the heroes away. Duncan is intercepted before he can be transported but the Sorceress succeeds with the rest. An enraged Skeletor stabs the Sorceress with the Sword of Power, saying that it is time for new blood to take over her position.

Duncan cradles his love in grief but the Sorceress tells him that hope hasn't died yet. Teela and co. awaken in the Castle of Eternos with Adam close to death once again. Desperate to save Adam the mark given to her by the Sorceress glows on Teela's forehead and time slows down. The Sorceress, as she was when she left Teela all those years ago, appears to her daughter and silently helps her access her latent magic, allowing Teela to close Adam's wound.

Back at Castle Greyskull the Sorceresses body dissipates, with Duncan breaking down in despair. A disgusted Skeletor tells Beast Man to put him in the dungeon and turns to Evil-Lyn. He tells her that mortals are born merely to die, but gods are a different story. He blasts her with the Power of Greyskull and transforms her into the new Sorceress.

Evil-Lyn is angry that Skeltor hid in her staff and fed of her energy to survive but he dismisses her complaints and tells her he more then made up for it by giving her his power. He explains that normally those who become Sorceress are doomed to be forever trapped in Castle Greyskull but he has now altered the conditions of her power to bring to universe to her. He tells Evil-Lyn to use her powers to find the former Sorceress champions.

Teela and co. are confronted by Fisto and Clamp Champ who initially think they are thieves. After some initial confusion the two are informed of Teela and Adams presence to reassure them. While thankful to see their friends again Fisto and Clamp Champ inform the group that not all is well. After Skeletor was revealed to be alive the King and Queen ordered a mass evacuation of Eternos. Suddenly a projection of Skeltor towers over the citizens of Eternos and releases a mist that turns the citizens into horrifying undead abominations, with ram skulls for heads.

Fisto and Clamp Champ help Adam and co. escape into the palace but they are touched by some of the mist transforming them into the undead. The heroes are forced to fight their friends and are eventually left with no choice but to vaporize their bodies to ensure they can't come back.

The heroes are saddened by this lose but Adam assures Teela that the two will find eternal peace in Preturnia. However that's when Skeletor arrives with his army and informs Adam that with his new powers he controls life and death and damns their souls to Subternia instead.

Skeletor tells Adam that once he was the bane of his existence but, without the power of He-Man, he's now nothing more then a bump on the road, and mockingly tells Adam to give him his best shot.

Rather surprisingly Adam starts laughing, confusing Skeletor. Adam reveals that, while the Sword of Power may have been the conduit that channeled his power, the spark that deemed him worthy to be He-Man was always his own. As such Adam raises his hand to the sky and calls upon the Power of Greyskull. The episode ends with Skeletor and the rest of the heroes are left shocked as Adam transforms into a more feral version of his He-Man form.
