A teenage girl is sexually assaulted in the projects, with the DNA evidence pointing back to a double murder in the same area from over a decade ago. The only problem? The supposed assailants had long since been arrested, one having died recently and the other still in prison for what is soon revealed to be a crime that he didn't commit. Meanwhile , Benson's half-brother Simon reappears and claims he wants to get to know Noah, but Benson is apprehensive considering Simon's drug history. Her fears prove to be founded, unfortunately, when Simon dies of a drug overdose the day he is supposed to have lunch with her and Noah, leaving Benson distraught since her last message to Simon was to cut him out of her and her son's life.

- Parting-Words Regret: When Simon doesn't show up to lunch, Benson leaves him a voicemail telling that she never wants to see him again. She later finds out that he died of an overdose, and that her message might have been the last thing he heard from her.
