Written By Michael S Chernuchin

Directed By Alex Chapple

A rape victim arrives at the precinct distraught over her inability to remember the details of her attack. Benson tries to help her remember, but as the stress of the situation drags the victim further into incoherency, Benson decides to reveal a long-held secret from her own past in the hopes that the victim would remember what happened and who assaulted her so justice could be served. However, the details of the case soon reveal a secret long kept from both the victim and her own sister.

Tropes

  • "Not So Different" Remark: Olivia says that she had taken a metal rod to her attacker, William Lewis, to get Laurel to open up about her supposed Crime Of Self Defence.
  • Parental Incest: Laurel’s sister was a victim of this. Disturbingly, Laurel wishes their father could have "loved" her on occasion.
  • Replacement Goldfish: Laurel seduced a man who reminded her of her father. Unfortunately for him, her baggage about her father took over and she killed the stand-in.
  • What Did I Do Last Night?: Laurel has this at the start of the episode.
  • The Un-Favorite: A really sick case; Laurel believes that her father sexually abusing her sister but not her meant he loved her less.
