Price and Maroun struggle to make a case after a homicide suspect claims to have been defending an innocent person and Baxter insists he be charged with murder instead of manslaughter. The case gets even harder after the defense produces the person who claims to have been saved by the suspect.
- Downer Ending: Arnou is acquitted of murder even though it's clear his racial hatred played at least a large part in his killing of Joiner.
- Red Herring: As usual, the police investigate a few false leads when looking for Joiner's killer, including Malcolm Paige (a rival comedian who had attacked Joiner earlier), Michael Zane (Joiner's boyfriend whom he'd been fighting with), and Domhnall Kovac (a white nationalist gym leader wearing the same uniform as the actual killer).
