When the body of a missing teenage girl is found, evidence leads to a judge (Colm Meaney) with a sordid history, but the judge fights back against the accusations by digging up dirt on the Detectives of the Major Case Squad.

- Big, Screwed-Up Family: By the end of the episode, Ethan and both of his parents will all be spending at least the next few years in prison.
- I Never Said It Was Poison: A variation. When Ethan is testifying against his father, he reveals a detail from Bethany's assault that wasn't made public. However, they subsequently establish that Ethan didn't know how to get to the location where the body was dumped, so he couldn't have done it either, meaning a third person had to have seen the victim the night she died — someone who was close enough with Ethan to have told him about it. Once they figure that part out, the rest falls into place.
