• Armor-Piercing Question: Kolchak gives one to Pepe to talk him out of being the last sacrifice: "Who says you have to be a box boy?"
• Drama-Preserving Handicap: Kolchak injures his ankle tumbling down the stairs after the cultists drop him to pursue Pepe. This makes him an easier target in combat with the mummy.
• Even Bad Men Love Their Mamas: Pepe is a street thug who willingly took part in four sacrifices, but it's revealed that he only agreed with the stipulation that his mother be taken care of for the rest of her life.
• Human Sacrifice: An ancient Aztec cult is performing human sacrifice to bring back their deity.
• Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Pepe realizes the cultists may not fulfill his end of the bargain and that he's free to make his own destiny. So he says, "To hell with this," and bolts.
• What Happened to the Mouse?: Andrews and his cultists simply run off at the end, presumably never catching Pepe. The cultists are never mentioned again, although presumably they are alive and well. Presumably they would want revenge on Kolchak for messing up their resurrection ceremony, but they never come after him. Also, Andrews is the head of a major hotel conglomerate, but he seemingly disappears without a trace or mention, and Kolchak never breaks the story of how Andrews is the head of an evil cult.
