"Choose your weapon!"

Felix in the Mid-Evil Ages is a 1960 Felix the Cat cartoon and the 62nd episode of the Felix the Cat (Joe Oriolo) series.

It's another day at Professor's lab, with him pacing around and thinking of a way to get Felix's bag of tricks. He suddenly comes up with a plan—challenge him to a duel. Rock points out that people haven't dueled for centuries, and Professor retorts that he'll take Felix back hundreds of years with his Time Machine. Professor and Rock set up a photo booth as a trap. Felix shows up on time and takes the bait, and Professor shoves him into the booth and triggers the machine, transporting Felix 500 years back in time, right into the Medieval Ages. Professor and Rock then hop into a rocket that allows them to Time Travel in order to catch up with Felix. Felix falls out of the booth, but turns his bag into an umbrella to drift down. Felix lands inside a castle, wondering where he is. A trumpet blows, and a knight (Rock Bottom in disguise) announces court is in session, with Professor as King. They immediately blow their disguises, and Felix runs away. After a length chase, Professor almost corners Felix, but Felix turns his bag into a bunch of steps to run over Professor. Felix almost makes it out of the castle, but Professor pulls up the drawbridge in time, making Felix fall into a trapdoor and lands in a dungeon cell, with Professor calling that they'll duel tomorrow for the Magic Bag.

The next day, Felix wonders how to escape, just as Rock Bottom arrives, handing out programs for the big duel that day. Felix reads it and finds out he's up next, just as a trapdoor opens below him, landing him on a horse in an arena outside. Rock steps up and hands Felix a weapon—Felix takes a lance, which goes limp like a noodle. Rock introduces the challengers to the crowd, with the crowd cheering for Felix and his dinky horse, but booing Professor and his mechanical horse. The battle starts, and Professor charges at Felix, who uses his bag of tricks to play bull with him. After dodging him a few times, Professor nearly runs into Felix and orders him to surrender the bag. Professor brags about how his horse is made of cans and isn't afraid of anything, and Felix retorts if that's the case, whipping out a can opener. The mechanical horse gets scared and takes off, and Felix uses this as a chance to escape, but Professor turns the horse around and swipes the bag. Felix rushes at Professor and grabs onto his lance, sliding down it and grabbing his bag of tricks back. Felix thinks fast about how to stop Professor, and he turns the tides by transforming his Magic Bag into a giant tank, which Professor collides into, destroying his metal horse. Afterward, the Time Machine allows Felix to return to the present victorious—along with Professor, who falls limp on the ground and mopes about how Felix has gotten the best of him again. Felix laughs as the cartoon irises out.

Tropes:

  • Tank Goodness: Felix wins the duel against the Professor by turning his Magic Bag into a very large yellow tank, which Professor crashes his metal horse right into.
  • Time Machine: Professor uses a Time Machine to send Felix back to the Middle Ages so he and the cat can duel for the Magic Bag of Tricks.
