"Here it is, the Supertoy!"

Supertoy is a 1960 Felix the Cat cartoon and the 52nd episode of the Felix the Cat (Joe Oriolo) series.

Felix and Poindexter are bouncing a ball together, but Professor pokes his head out of the door and gets smacked with the ball by accident. Professor reminds Felix to keep babysitting Poindexter and goes off to take a nap. Felix decides to play something quieter, and asks Poinsy where his toys are. Poindexter takes him to his closet, and inside is a room full of toys, but Poindexter says he's tired of them. Felix suggests building a new toy, and Poinsy is keen to the idea. They lead to the lab and Poinsy a new invention, the Supertoy, an unremarkable looking little object. Felix isn't impressed and walks off, but the toy drives up behind him and kicks him in the rear. The toy opens the door to Professor's room and goes inside, carrying Professor and his bed outside. Professor is driven through down past a jackhammer and a music schoolas Felix tries to catch him to keep him being woken up. The toy then drags Professor onto a train, which immediately takes off. Felix grabs onto the back of the train and climbs on top of it to run across the roofs, but a tunnel comes up, and Felix is forced to run away. Up ahead, the train stops, and the toy carries Professor off. Felix catches up and grabs the couch, but can't steer it as the toy takes them both back to the lab, crashing through its side.

Poindexter is amused that his uncle hasn't woken up, but Felix reprimands him and how it could've gotten Professor killed, and orders him to destroy it. The toy gets scared and says "Don't you dare touch me!" and runs outside, suddenly repairing the damage to the wall. Poindexter ponders that something is wrong with the toy and that he overdeveloped it. The toy then removes the door to the lab, leaving a brick wall in its place when Poinsy opens the door, and he demands to be let out, but the toy refuses out of fear of being torn apart. Felix promises not to hurt it if it comes in and stays quiet, and it agrees, creating a new door nearby. The toy tries to put itself in charge, but Felix refuses and says they have to make it harmless. Felix and Poindexter chase after the toy, but lose it in the hallways. Just then, the toy shows up and ties both of them up. Then it goes into the lab and gets to work, rebuilding itself into a much larger version of itself, and then makes a copy of itself. The original Supertoy tells its copy to get busy, but its clone gets snappy with it, and the two brawl with each other, destroying each other. Felix and Poindexter free themselves, just as Professor wakes up from his nap and congratulates both of them for being good. He goes back in his room, and reveals that he hadn't been at the lab the whole time—he had left a dummy sleeping on his bed. Professor laughs as the cartoon irises out.

Tropes:

  • Literal Ass-Kicking: The Supertoy does this to Felix shortly after Poindexter activates it.
  • Self-Disposing Villain: The Supertoy unwittingly destroys itself by building a copy that gets into a fight with it, which ends with both of them totally inoperable.
  • Team Rocket Wins: The Professor actually comes out at the end smelling like a rose.
