Sirius and a Quidditch Spectacle / Sirius Issues and a Quidditch Spectacle / Sirius, Spectacles, and a Quidditch Spectacle

Percy Weasley is incensed by Neville's attack on Draco Malfoy, but Harry tells him more about the provocation that led up to it, and Percy acknowledges that there's more than one side to the story.

Harry's efforts to obtain a trial and release for Sirius hit a wall, finding no legal avenues that can be pursued. However, the newspaper then reports Sirius' escape. Harry worries that it's faked and that Sirius was actually quietly killed.

Without Dobby's interference, Harry isn't attacked by a rogue Bludger during the Gryffindor vs Slytherin Quidditch match. However, one of the Slytherin Beaters receives Bludger injuries of a similar severity to Harry's canonical broken arm, and Professor Lockhart attempts to assist, but Professor Snape intervenes and ensures that Bole receives proper treatment.

  • In Spite of a Nail:
    • Harry is frustrated by the fact that despite all his efforts, Sirius is still a wanted fugitive who escaped from jail, at best.
    • A Bludger still causes serious injuries at the Gryffindor vs Slytherin quidditch match, which Professor Lockhart tries to fix (and would almost certainly have made worse), only narrowly prevented by Professor Snape's intervention.
  • Manslaughter Provocation: Downplayed as Draco isn't dead, but after hearing the full story, Percy does admit that although Neville needs to control his temper, "in this instance he was most seriously provoked."
  • Un-person: Harry's friends are excited by the news of Sirius' escape, but Harry points out that they don't know it's true; Sirius might have just been "disappeared" by the Ministry to avoid the embarrassment of a trial and admitting tht he was wrongly imprisoned.
