Chapter 2: War
The next day after getting outside, Chito and Yuuri set up an impromptu shooting range at an old battlefield with the latter shooting metal cans with her rifle, the Arisaka Type 38, while the former spectates through a scope. Out of all eight shots fired, Yuuri misses only one, which demonstrates her proficiency with firearms. Yuuri suggests that Chito should get herself a weapon, but she declines, stating she has no need for one, despite standing in what appears to be a weapon graveyard. In fact, compared to Yuuri, she isn't as good at shooting as her. The girls decide to explore the battlefield, wanting to find something other than a weapon, be it food or something useful. While walking around, Yuuri wonders why couldn't the people of the past simply preserve food instead of creating weapons in the first place. Afterwards, the girls come across an abandoned bomber plane and start searching for supplies inside. They find a crate of explosives that they can use to blow obstacles away, and another one full of ration packs, and carry as much as they can to the Kettenkrad. Getting hungry after attempting to make the plane "fly" and failing, they treat themselves to a pack of chocolate-flavored ration bars, but then Chito notices that it holds an odd number of five. She was about to consider splitting the last piece in half when suddenly Yuuri takes it away from her and holds her at gunpoint. This makes her realize the importance of weapons in a world where supplies are very limited to the point where they have to fight for them, but it turns out Yuuri was only messing with her so that she can eat the last chocolate ration in front of her. Angered, Chito proceeds to beat up Yuuri, who seems to have gotten a good laugh out of it. The resulting scuffle made them hungry again, but at least the snow can be eaten as well.
