• Bittersweet Ending: Tragic circumstances have lead it so that Majhal killed all those girls for nothing, Karin grew old without her beloved, and Majhal died believing she wasn't the real Karin. The only reason this isn't a Downer Ending is (A) the Elric brothers leave the town a little wiser for it and (B) Claus was able to get closure for her sister's death and (C) saving Claus made the brothers coming to town worthwhile than if they didn't come.
• Loving a Shadow: Majhal has lived with the idea of Karin of being the beautiful woman she was in life for so long that when he sees her in person for the first time in 20 years, he refuses to believe this withered old woman is the "real" Karin. And when he lays dying from his wounds, he firmly believes he's about to see her in the next life, rather than acknowledge Karin is right beside him.
• She Cleans Up Nicely: Claus normally dresses like a tomboy, especially after her older sister's death. After the Elric brothers avenge the aforementioned sister, Claus dresses in an actual dress, to the point where the brothers don't recognize her at first.
