- First-Name Basis: Unlike most episodes, Station Officer Steele refers to Elvis by his first name instead of by "Cridlington".
- Idiot Ball: Trevor's insistence that it's safe to open the bonnet on the bus is what starts the fire, despite being told it's dangerous.
- Smart Ball: For once, it's Norman Price who points out how dangerous the situation is (having witnessed a similar incident earlier in the episode), only to be ignored by an adult.
