Riding a Goliath, Darius leads an army of Grimm toward Chaldea. Suddenly, Iskandar transports the entire army to his Reality Marble, Ionioi Hetairoi. Darius growls when he spots Iskandar across the desert. Iskandar speaks to Zhuge Liang, Ruby, and Astolfo and says that way, none of the Grimm will escape. They spot Darius and guess he is the Grimm's leader. Iskandar tells his group and his nearly endless army behind them to annihilate all the Grimm. Zhuge draws a feathered fan and waves it. To Ruby's amazement, everybody gets supercharged with energy. Iskandar orders an attack. He and Zhuge ride the Gordius Wheel, Astolfo and Ruby ride on Hippogriff, and the army charges.
Darius watches as the army slays several Grimm and angrily orders the giant bird-like Nevermores to dive bomb them. Ruby shoots down several. Astolfo uses Casseur de Logistille, a book that generates a powerful force field, to protect them from some Grimm Griffons. He draws his lance, Trap of Argalia, and has Hippogriff ram several Grimm before he and Ruby slay them.
The Gordius Wheel flies in and tries to ram Darius, but he catches the bulls and hurls them and the chariot away. Iskandar and Zhuge manage to land on the Goliath's back. Darius draws his flaming axes and Iskandar draws his sword. They clash while Zhuge blasts Darius with light. Zhuge then uses his Noble Phantasm, Unreturning Army: Stone Sentinel Maze. Eight stone pillars fall from the sky and trap Darius in a cage before blasting him with energy. He roars in agony, but manages to break one of the pillars and escape. Shocked, Zhuge says that technique is supposed to be unbreakable, but Iskandar points out this is not an ordinary opponent. They clash blades again but Iskandar is knocked back.
Ruby and Astolfo ride in on Hippogriff. Darius tries to blast them with his axes' flames, but Hippogriff fools him with an illusion, allowing Ruby and Astolfo to jump down and stab him in both of his kidneys. Enraged, he tries to hit them, and they jump back and comment he is very durable. Bucephalus shows up and knocks Darius down before letting Iskandar and Zhuge mount him. The four of them plus Bucephalus and Hippogriff attack Darius again and again, so he accumulates damage. Suddenly, Darius commands the Goliath to rear up and stomp. This throws the heroes off balance and crushes several of Iskandar's soldiers. While they are disoriented, Darius swings his axes at them. Bucephalus and Hippogriff shield the humans with their bodies and Bucephalus dies while Hippogriff becomes injured, causing their owners to mourn. Ruby was knocked senseless at Darius' feet and Darius raises an axe to kill her. Astolfo charges and tries to stab him in the back, but to the others' horror, Darius easily counters and impales him, then hurls him off the Goliath. Hippogriff screams in agony, goes limp, and disintegrates, proving Astolfo is dead.
In anguish, Ruby pulls Darius into her Reality Marble. In the white void, Darius tries to attack, but Summer Rose appears and chops his arm off. Ruby and Summer double team him and chop him up. As his body starts to disintegrate, Ruby angrily says she wants him to suffer and goes to attack his body, but Summer and a copy of Astolfo stop her. Surprised, Ruby asks him why he doesn't want revenge. Summer hugs her and she cries, saying losing her loved ones is always so hard and asks her mother what she should do. Blanca and Wolf appear and they bow. Astolfo and Summer put their hands over their hearts and bow. Summer speaks but no sound comes out. Ruby understands her anyway. "You can always remember me, but you cannot forget yourself." Ruby realizes giving into dark thoughts like revenge only makes more Grimm.
Ruby exits her Reality Marble to find Iskandar and Zhuge alone. Iskandar somberly explains his army killed all the Grimm, including the Goliath, and they recovered Astolfo's body. It is in the Gordius Wheel, wrapped in Iskandar's cape. Ruby says when they get back, she will tell Marie and the others what happened to him. As she walks to his body and mourns him, Zhuge comments Ruby has a strong will to move forward. Iskandar says whether it was taught or inherited from her parents, it is who she is.
