A Jaridian probe crash-lands in Australia and begins disrupting the Taelon Commonality. In order to keep the Taelons from reverting back to their Atavus state, Zo'or has Sandoval round up all suspected Resistance members, including Augur and Maiya, so they can be placed in a comatose state, allowing their spiritual energy to be used to sustain the Taelons until the rift is found and shut down. The sleepers experience whatever they desire. Maiya experiences the day she married Jason and is reunited with her late mother. Augur sees his hometown and his late father. Eventually, though, their minds will be drained and they will die. Liam wants to be able to go in so he can try to reach Augur and Maiya and pull their consciousnesses back into their bodies. Maiya and Augur resist, while Liam is confronted by a projection of his Kimera father Ha'Gel. Ha'Gel manages to convince Liam to abandon the mortal plain and go through to the other side, but Liam's interference helped Maiya and Augur see the truth. They break out of their own worlds and help him stay on Earth. Maiya and Augur wake up and free the other sleepers. Meanwhile, Lily and Sandoval find the probe and manage to destroy it, restoring the Commonality. Sandoval visits Maiya (whom he knows as "Isabel") at Augur's club.
- Lotus-Eater Machine: The device used by the Taelons places the sleepers' consciousnesses into a psychokinetic dimension where they experience their own version of paradise. Maiya is back on her Earth about to marry Jason with her late mother by her side. Augur is in his hometown and meets his late father. Liam goes in to try to pull their minds back, but they're resisting and don't even recognize him. Meanwhile, their spiritual energy is feeding the Taelons. Liam is himself confronted by his father Ha'Gel. Ha'Gel wants him to ascend to the next plane of existence to join the other Kimera. Liam is about to do it, when Maiya and Augur, who have managed to reject their paradises, come to convince him to come back.
