"When a Child is Born: Part 1" is the twenty-seventh episode of season 4 of Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman.
As the birth of Dr. Mike's baby rapidly approaches, Sully is injured trying to rescue Cloud Dancing and the other Indians who were seized by the Army. After Cloud Dancing escapes, he guides a worried Dr. Mike to her husband's side. Meanwhile, Dr. Mike's family brings Andrew Cook, a new doctor, to town.
