Recap / Creep School S 1 E 11 Forbidden Fruit

Go To

Malcolm and the other teachers are excited that the Batu-Batu Tree is bearing fruit, it having been three years since the last time and that the tree only seems to bear fruit when it wants to. When Tony shows up and confirms that the fruit is ready to be harvested, Malcolm declares that today will be Batu-Batu Pudding Day.

In class, Victoria expresses annoyance with some of her classmates fooling around and making noise in the classroom. Janice thinks Victoria is being too uptight and teases her. Their teacher, Mr. Edgar comes in and informs the students of it being Batu-Batu Pudding Day. Elliot points out that he, Josh, Janice and Victoria have never heard of it, so Edgar asks Elsa to help explain it to them.

Elsa explains the history of the Batu-Batu Tree, and how the students aren't allowed to touch the fruit. After Janice accidentally flings her gum into Victoria's hair, resulting in her reaction getting the both of them kicked out of the classroom. As the two leave, they miss the rest of the explaination, warning the students that eating the fruit raw can have strange effects on those who eat them.

Janice tries to explain what happened with the gum was an accident, but Janice's easy-going attitude get them into more trouble when Janice drops a water balloon on Miss Gertrude, forcing them to clean the classroom, with Victoria annoyed since she was trying to stop Janice. After the two take out the garbage, Janice still feels like Victoria needs to loosen up a bit, questioning if she's never ever wanted to just do something wild.

Janice suggests they try the Batu-Batu Fruit, despite Victoria pointing out they were told not to touch it. As the two continue to argue, Janice eventually dares Victoria to take a bite of the fruit to prove that she's not as boring as Janice thinks. Once Victoria says the fruit is delicious, Janice tries some herself. They soon discover why they weren't supposed to do this, as they both turn younger. The two wonder what to do, before their younger mindsets lead them to decide to play together. Elsa finds them, and realizing what has happened, tries to catch up to them.

Meanwhile, Josh and Elliot are playing a game of chess, before deciding to check on the girls. Elsa eventually catches up to Janice and Victoria, and discovers they have gotten even younger. Elsa manages to keep the two out of trouble, while Josh and Elliot search for them. Elsa tries to bring the girls to Malcolm, but the two just want to keep playing and escape Elsa. Elsa realizes she can't handle the situation, and goes to find help, leaving Bob to keep an eye on them.

Elsa soon manages to locate Josh and Elliot, and tells them that the girls ate from the Batu-Batu Tree, and tells the boys to go find them while she fetches Malcolm. The girls manage to get away from Bob, before the boys reach them. With Bob leading the way, the two manage to find the two girls. It takes a moment before they recognize the two as Victoria and Janice, who still aren't taking the situation seriously. Elsa manages to track down Malcolm, who lead him and Gertrude to Janice and Victoria with the boys.

With the two girls still getting younger, the boys ask what they can do to return them to normal. Malcolm suggests they ask Miss Dorothy, who begins looking for a solution. Dorothy attempts a spell, but when mispronouncing it causes Gertrude to get caught up in the curtains, Dorothy suggests they try to make an antidote. They need the root of the Batu-Batu Tree, so the group must head into the depths of the school to find it.

The group have trouble navigating the place, while Malcolm and Dorothy look after Janice and Victoria, who by this point have turned into babies. In the depths of the school, Elliot worries that he has failed Janice, but Elsa tells him not to think that way and that they can still save her. Elliot is surprised to learn that Elsa can read minds, but Elsa assures him she can keep a secret.

Bob spots and chases a rat that feeds on roots, finally leading the group to the roots. Taking some of the juice from the roots, they place the vial in Bob's collar and send him back since he can find the way back faster than they can.

Dorothy manages to complete the antidote just as the boys and Elsa get back, and they help give the girls the antidote returning them to normal. Janice and Victoria are initially confused when they return to normal, but soon remember the fun they had together, before they begin arguing again.

Later, everyone gathers to finally have some Batu-Batu Pudding, except Gertrude, who is still stuck in the curtains.

This episode provides examples of:

  • Fountain of Youth: Happens to Victoria and Janice in this episode after eating from the raw Batu-Batu fruit, with the two gradually getting even younger over the course of the episode.
  • Something We Forgot: The episode ends with a shot of Gertrude still caught in the curtains. Somewhat justified in that no one actually saw what happened to her since everyone were focused on Janice and Victoria at the time.
