"Into the Great Wide Open" is the second episode of Cougar Town's first season.
After realizing she doesn't have any stories from her 20's unlike her friends, she begins attempting to relive her youth by partying with Laurie, which Ellie objects to. After one night of partying, she develops a massive hangover, and struggles to keep up with Laurie, especially after injuring herself when attempting to mimic a sex position with her boyfriend. Jules and Ellie get into a fight when she tries to cancel plans to party with Laurie again, but make up after Laurie sends her home because she can't keep up.
This episode contains examples of:
- Break Them by Talking: Jules attempts this on Grayson to make him her "paper buddy".
- Flexibility Equals Sex Ability: Jules tries to prove her sexual prowess to her younger boyfriend by doing a sex move which involves her placing her leg on his shoulder. She ends up hurting herself in the process.
- Jerkass Realization: Ellie has one upon realizing that Jules is acting like this because she never got to experience her 20's the way most do.
- What the Hell, Hero?: Ellie has one towards Jules, But later Jules has one towards Ellie causing Ellie to have a Jerkass Realization to understand what Jules is going through.
