The remains of a demon-like body are found on a church altar, leading Booth and Brennan back to Havenhurst Sanitarium where the deceased had been committed for schizophrenia.
Tropes
- Bait-and-Switch: Brennan is creeped out that the patient they're about to interrogate follows her with the eyes, as though she can see her through the two-way mirror. Booth points out that it's a window, so the woman can see her.
- Dr. Psych Patient: A man passing out medication introduces himself to Bones as a doctor, and they have a congenial conversation. Then a real doctor shows up and tells the patient to resume helping distribute pills to his fellows.
- Hollywood Psych: Pointedly subverted in the episode, which takes place mostly in a mental ward.Dr. Adam Copeland: (to Bones) I've listened to you take shots at my profession. And that's okay. I'm a big boy, and tolerant man. I want you to think about something. I spend every working hour of everyday trying to help people who are living in hell. That's an honorable way to spend a life. Perhaps more honorable than figuring out what happened to dead people who are already beyond pain and suffering.
- What the Fu Are You Doing?: Hodgins. Arastoo shows him how it's done.
- What the Hell, Hero?: See Hollywood Psych above. Notably shortly after that speech after seeing Dr Copeland dealing with a patient having a bad episode Brennan unreservedly apologises.
