15 year old Jessie Jackson, member of the Blue Ramun tribe and newly trained Blue Doctor, takes up her posting as the chief healer of the Lezak District of Fargain in the Silkdeep Empire. She settles into her role as healer and becomes acquainted with Guard Chief Eagle and priest Randy. But the sinister work of the Garicalege threatens to disrupt Jessie's peaceful life in Lezak.


  • Chapter 1: Jessie arrives in Lezak and takes on the responsibility of caring for the district's sick and elderly. She overextends herself, and needs Randy and Eagle to remind her of her limits. Eagle becomes the subject of an assassination attempt after his capture of a notorious bandit, and is saved only by Jessie's medical intervention.
  • Chapter 2: Yuan Clesy, Jessie's arranged fiancé, makes a surprise visit to Lezak and challenges Eagle over Jessie's affection. Jessie gets stranded outside the city gates at night and needs to be rescued from bandits. She also learns about Eagle's last love.
  • Chapter 3: While treating a child for a fever, Jessie notices a strange tattoo on the father's arm and resolves to help him remove it. The monstrous boss of the Garicalege makes an appearance in Lezak. A fire is lit.
  • Chapter 4: Amidst growing concern over the Garicalege's actions, Eagle sets an unusual guard for Jessie. Jessie is forced to reckon with her feelings for Eagle. Black market operations in Lezak are discovered.
  • Chapter 5: A young girl from the slums grows desperate to save her sickly little brother. Jessie wrestles with the morality of her job's limitations when she is prohibited from treating those most in need.

The Garicalege's activities are beginning to stir up trouble in the Silkdeep Empire, and their leader, Rowan, has turned his attention on Jessie. Jessie, Eagle, and Randy work to disrupt the Garicalege's operations while maintaining peace in Lezak. Jessie's feelings for Eagle deepen. Rowan's connections to Lezak come to light, but what connection could he have with Jessie?


  • Chapter 6: Eagle visit the Imperial Capital to discuss the Garicalege's activates in the Empire. Jessie and Randy meet Mirna, a half-blue blooded little girl who has escaped from the Garicalege. Rowan sends an agent to recover his "missing property."
  • Chapter 7: Rowan takes Jessie and Mirna captive. Randy and Eagle come to their rescue and duel the leader of the Garicalege. Rowan escapes, but the Garicalege takes a hit.
  • Chapter 8: Jessie treats Natasha, an elderly woman with "Sand Sickness" — while Blue Blood can slow the disease, it can't stop it. Jessie's father makes a surprise appearance and grants her access to the research lab of Lezak's former Blue Doctor, Zai Gristen. Dr. Zai's research might hold clues to curing Natasha, but at what cost?
  • Chapter 9: Eagle tells Jessie the story of his first love, and how Rowan killed her. Jessie decides not to pursue Dr. Zai's research, but then the mysterious Dr. Zai turns up in Lezak. Natasha goes missing as her disease progresses.
  • Chapter 10: Jessie and Eagle complete the end-of-life ceremonies for Natasha. Dr. Zai's identity is revealed.

Tensions with the Garicalege reach a boiling point, with Lezak's forces going on the attack when Jessie is kidnapped. Jessie is determined to defuse the situation without further loss of life, but what if her own life hangs in the balance?


  • Chapter 11: Eagle is denied reinforcements to combat the growing threat the Garicalege poses to the Lezak District. Jessie attends a conference of Blue Doctors, where she receives a proposal and an invitation.
  • Chapter 12: Jessie willing goes to the Garicalege to learn the truth about Dr. Zai, remembering an important encounter from her past as she travels. Eagle attempts a rescue.
  • Chapter 13: Jessie treats Rowan's injuries, and while he's delighted to have her in his clutches Rowan becomes enraged when he realizes the depth of her feelings for Eagle. The Police Army launches a direct assault on the Garicalege with Eagle leading the charge. A trap is laid, with Jessie as the bait.
  • Chapter 14: The final clash between Eagle and Rowan unfolds, with both men fighting for Jessie's future. An important piece of jewelry changes hands, and a delayed confession is finally made.
  • Chapter 15: The finale — Jessie rushes to cure an incurable poison. A ghost is put to rest. Survivors of the battle return to Lezak.
  • Volume 3 Omake: A day in the life of Priest Randy, as he presides over the religious and spiritual welfare of the Lezak district in his own way.
