- Evil Cannot Comprehend Good: Zaadur initially assumes that Risor intends to blackmail her into letting him join her escape by threatening to set off the orbital bomb, incapable of realising that he actually wants to kill her for killing Veltreena.
- Exact Words: The early Ice Warriors of this time are so intellectually limited that the Doctor is able to convince them to let him go by arguing that Zaadur's orders were to keep him and Zoe contained, which they can't do at this time as Zoe escaped earlier.
- Heroic Suicide: Azlor and Risor each choose to sacrifice themselves to save the Gandorians and kill Zaadur respectively.
- Ignorant of Their Own Ignorance: Implied with Zaadur, although not explicitly stated; she forces the Doctor to give her information about Earth's defences as part of her plans to conquer the planet, but there is no sign that she's aware that the Doctor is a time-traveller from the far future, and therefore everything she learns about Earth from him is ridiculously ahead of schedule.
- It's All About Me: Zaadur defines everything by how it affects or benefits her, to the point where the rest of her species are basically irrelevant.
- Never My Fault: Zaadur uses this out of arrogance, constantly telling others that they are responsible for her more ruthless actions rather than just admit that she's a self-centred monster.
- Origins Episode: For the Ice Warriors, one of the last recurring baddies to get one.
