Main Plot: Batman and Booster Gold both try to deal with the old Blue Beetle’s unfinished business by taking down the Madniks. But things soon go wrong.

- Doomed by Canon: As soon as Batman and Booster return to the future, the Batman of the past enters to bring Ted along on the mission that took his life.
- Hidden Depths: Both the egomaniac Glory Hound Booster Gold and crabby The Stoic Batman miss Ted Kord and both take dealing with the Madniks (the one villain he failed to take down) very seriously.
- Never Got to Say Goodbye: Batman shows Booster gratitude for helping him fix this.
- Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Booster going back in time to help Ted detain the Madniks results in them mutating into energy monsters that have destroyed the world in two years.
- Odd Friendship: Batman is surprised to find that the hard-working Ted and the lax Booster were friends prior to the former’s death.
