Artistic License – Law: J.B. tricks the not-quite-all-there Grandma Seville into signing a document that turns out to be mortgage papers, giving him the right to seize the Sevilles' land by eminent domain. In the real world, a judge would not only declare the documents null and void, but J.B. would likely be arrested for fraud (among other charges).
Shout-Out: An obvious parody to Dallas, with the South Spoon Ranch, Stella and corrupt oil executive J.B., who learns about a large oil field on Grandpa and Grandma Seville's property and vows to force them off their land.
Spoiled Brat: J.B.'s daughter, Becky, who wants a pony and merry-go-round – among other things – for her birthday. J.B. barely acknowledges her as he's solely focused on seizing the Seville property.
