Basic Trope:The world in a video game is much smaller than it is described in the Lore.

  • Straight:
    • In the lore the kingdom of tropedia is described as being the size of United Kingdom, in game it can be crossed using a mount in less than 3 hours.
    • In the lore it is said that to get from one city to another, it takes about 1 hour on a horse, in the real game it takes about 3 minutes.
  • Exaggerated:
    • In the lore the kingdom of tropedia is described as being the size of Asia, in the game you can cross walking (without running) in less than 1 hour.
    • In the lore it is said that to get from one location to another it takes a week with a fast mount, in the real game it takes less than 10 minutes.
  • Downplayed:
    • In the game, the kingdom of tropedia is almost as big as in lore, only certain distances are shortened and some buildings are removed.
    • In the lore the distance between two cities is described as a 1 hour walk, in the real game it takes 15 minutes.
  • Justified:
    • Having a real-size kingdom would be very impractical, because crossing the map could take hours, even using the fastest mount.
    • The lore dates to tropedia's heyday, the game takes places during its twilight.
    • The game has an internal clock, where each minute is represented in a few seconds, so the distance is shortened to reflect that.
  • Inverted: Tropedia in the lore is described as a small village, which does not exceed 100 inhabitants, in the game it is much larger with a much larger population.
  • Subverted: Initially it seems that the size of Tropedia was reduced, but later it is confirmed that Tropedia is a small kingdom in the lore.
  • Double Subverted: Even if it is a small kingdom, the version of the game is still much smaller.
  • Parodied: A villager complains that getting to the nearest town would take him hours, even when he is only 20 meters away.
  • Zig-Zagged: Some maps are smaller than the lore, and some are not.
  • Averted: The realm of tropedia in the lore and in the game are exactly the same.
  • Enforced: The developers thought a real size map was impractical.
  • Lampshaded: "For supposedly a 3 day trip, it is incredibly close."
