- Justified:
- Alice wants Bob to build courage.
- Bob is bragging that he's not afraid of anything, and Alice dares him in an attempt to call his bluff.
- Inverted:
- Alice dares Bob to explore Madame Lacy's Beauty Shoppe after dark.
- Alice dares a gravedigger to Jump Scare Bob at the park.
- Subverted: Alice dares Bob to go into a graveyard at night, which happens to be well lit...
- Double Subverted: ...not that it'll help him outrun the security guards.
- Zig-Zagged: Bob gets dared to spend the night in a cemetery. While it appears scary, there's nothing to fear, and he makes it through the night effortlessly. Upping the stakes, he gets dared to sleep in a haunted house, which is very amiss. He refuses, but does it later after warming up on a few other locations.
- Parodied: Alice dares Bob to go in the cemetery and touch a gravestone. He's spent the night in jail, so this is nothing to him.
- Averted: Nobody dares anyone to do anything.
- Lampshaded:Bob: The old scary dare...a part of childhood.
- Enforced: Originally the author didn't explain why Bob was in the cemetery for the initial zombie rising, so the producer has him put in that Alice dared him to go there after dark.
- Invoked:Bob: Alice, I've gotta toughen up. Tell me to go somewhere, anywhere mortifying, and don't let me back down no matter how much I beg.
- Exploited: Dracone, who already likes tormenting Bob, takes advantage of knowing where he'll be and knowing he'll already be on edge to scare him soundly.
- Defied: The local parents put punishments in place for anyone who dares or takes a dare.
- Discussed: "Well, that place looks scary. How much you wanna be Bob gets dared to spend the night there?"
- Conversed: "I don't get it, what kind of friend dares someone to enter an obviously screwy location?"
- Deconstructed: Bob, who takes the dare, gets in trouble trespassing. Alice feels awful.
- Reconstructed: After the fact, Bob thanks Alice for daring him to go in the cemetery, as he needed a reality check about the bragging that got him into that mess to begin with.
- Played for Laughs: The location's personal attempt to scare Bob, but are laughably bad at it.
- Played for Drama: Bob second guesses his relationship with Alice after she dares him to go so far out of his comfort zone.
- Played for Horror: The location is pretty terrifying, and we see that in full glory.
