Basic Trope: Someone is good at disguising themselves, but they're terrible at acting convincingly.
- Straight: Bob disguises himself as King Charlie. He manages to look very convincing, but can't act anything like King Charlie.
- Exaggerated: Bob can shapeshift, and outright turns into King Charlie. However, his acting is terrible, complete with him constantly referring to himself as Bob by accident.
- Downplayed:
- Bob's disguise as King Charlie looks good enough that a casual observer might confuse him for the real thing, but his acting is definitely the least convincing part of his disguise.
- Bob mostly does a good job at acting, but there are some glaring flaws (e.g. failing a Spot the Impostor test) that give him away.
- Justified:
- Bob happens to look a lot like King Charlie. However, he knows nothing about how King Charlie acts.
- Bob isn't a good actor anyway.
- Inverted: Bob can do a great impression of King Charlie despite having a Paper-Thin Disguise.
- Subverted: ???
- Double Subverted: ???
- Parodied: Bob "imitates" King Charlie using a lot of Bad "Bad Acting" and saying things like "I'm not Bob, why would you think that?" - even better if it actually works.
- Zig-Zagged: Bob disguises as a lot of people - sometimes he does a good job at acting convincingly, and sometimes he does a good job at appearing to be someone else, but sometimes he doesn't.
- Averted: Bob doesn't disguise as anyone.
- Enforced: Bob is a Master of Disguise, but the plot requires someone to see through his disguise anyway.
- Lampshaded: "I almost fell for Bob's disguise... until he started speaking."
- Invoked: ???
- Exploited: ???
- Defied: Bob learns more about King Charlie so he can figure out how to do a convincing impression of him.
- Discussed: "Maybe I should've learned more about King Charlie before I tried to impersonate him."
- Conversed: ???
