Basic Trope: The first battle in the game is against a boss.
- Straight: In Amazing Adventure, Lance starts the game by facing against the main villain, Stock Slasher.
- Exaggerated: You start the game in a boss battle, before you get any instructions or how to play or any backstory.
- Downplayed: Lance does have to fight one or two regular enemies in the battle before Stock Slasher shows up.
- Justified: The game starts with Lance waking up. Stock Slasher had already gotten into his house, leaving him with no choice but to fight.
- Inverted: Stock Slasher is the True Final Boss.
- Subverted: Stock Slasher invades and threatens Lance, but his more powerful teammates show up and defeat the threat for him.
- Double Subverted: Lance, however, still wants to take on Stock Slasher himself to deal the final hits, and this becomes the first battle.
- Parodied: As soon as you boot up the game, you're fighting Stock Slasher.
- Averted: Stock Slasher is not the first battle (or even boss) in the game.
- Enforced: "The game needs a bit more action right at the start! What it it opened with Lance fighting the villain?"
- Lampshaded: "Didn't think I'd be fighting you this soon!"
- Invoked: Stock Slasher decides to attack Lance first chance he can.
- Exploited: Stock Slasher ambushes Lance when he hasn't fought in a while and his skills are rusty.
- Defied: Stock Slasher doesn't think there's any honor in curb-stomping someone who doesn't even know how to fight. He does let Lance get through a few of his minions first.
- Discussed: "Whoa! You wanna fight already?"
- Conversed: "Why does this game just start with me fighting the final boss?"
Dammit, man! We were just getting started, and we've now gotta deal with this Opening Boss Battle!
