Basic Trope: Trying a new food and instantly developing an addiction to it.

  • Straight: Alice tries cookies for the first time, loves the taste of them, and eats them every day.
  • Exaggerated:
    • Alice tries a tiny piece of crumb from a cookie for the first time, and she loves it so much that she eats cookies for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
    • Alice becomes addicted to cookies before she even tastes them, just by looking at them.
  • Downplayed: Alice tries cookies for the first time and loves them, but she'll only eat them sometimes.
  • Justified:
    • This is the first time Alice eats something sweet.
    • The cookies have an ingredient in them that makes them addictive.
  • Inverted: While everyone else is addicted to the cookies, Alice is the only who isn't, despite trying them for the first time.
  • Subverted:
    • After trying the cookies, she likes them at first but doesn't like the taste afterward.
    • Alice is addicted to cookies at first, but after five minutes, she loses interest in them.
  • Double Subverted:
    • Alice isn't addicted at first, but she is later on.
    • Alice was lying about not liking the taste, and she's keeping her cookie addiction a secret.
    • After Alice loses interest in cookies, she's suddenly addicted to donuts.
  • Parodied: Alice loves cookies so much that she consumes them like a drug (smoking them, inhaling them, injecting them into her body).
  • Zig Zagged: Alice tries chocolate chip cookies for the first time, and she's addicted to them but loses interest in them later on. She later tries peanut butter cookies for the first time, and she's addicted to them but loses interest in them later on.
  • Averted: Alice likes the cookies, but she's not addicted to them.
  • Enforced: ???
  • Lampshaded: "You only took one bite, and you're suddenly addicted to it?"
  • Invoked: ???
  • Exploited: Bob accidentally ordered too many cookies that he doesn't like, and he wants to get rid of them without wasting them. When Bob introduces these cookies to Alice, she loves them so much that she wants more of them, so Bob decides to unload all these cookies onto her.
  • Defied: Alice realizes she's addicted to cookies, so she tries to cut herself off from them before her addiction gets out of hand.
  • Discussed: ???
  • Conversed: ???
  • Implied: After Alice tries cookies for the first time, she can be seen eating them on a few occasions.
  • Deconstructed: ???
  • Reconstructed: ???
  • Played For Horror: Alice is so addicted to cookies that she'll do anything for them—such as killing anyone who tries to take her cookies, stealing money to buy cookies, keeping someone enslaved and forcing them to bake cookies for her forever, or being bribed with cookies to do unspeakable things.
