History

  • Henry II's eldest son repeatedly rebelled, including leading actual armies against his father. Henry's response on hearing he'd died?
  • The famously ruthless Edward I's adoration for his wife Eleanor of Castile - the pair were rarely apart and there's no record of Edward having any mistresses.
  • The relationship between Henry VII and Elizabeth of York. When their oldest son Arthur died, Henry was devastated and Elizabeth held herself together to comfort him. After he left the room, she collapsed in grief only for Henry to return and comfort her in turn.
  • Charles II and his brother James helping the Londoners during the Great Fire of 1666, with Charles getting citizens to safety and James assisting the fire force. Afterwards, Charles had spaces opened for the now-homeless to store their belongings and shut down any talk of Catholics being to blame. It's a rare time you see royals caring for their common subjects.
  • George III knew people were often nervous around him, so deliberately ended his sentences with "what what" to put them at ease.

The hosts

  • During Season 1 Ali had a horrible accident that put in hospital for weeks (if not months). A greatly subdued-Graham asked Rex listeners to send in messages for a get-well-soon card. Listeners responded...and there were so many messages Graham made a whole booklet.
  • Anytime the hosts mention their "dynasty score" - i.e. starting families of their own. A highlight in Season 2 when Ali announces the birth of his first child, and reveals Graham was the first person he told because they were messaging during the labour process, and in wonderfully Rexy fashion, turning it into a WWII narrative. The same episode has Ali putting up a poll for listeners to vote on their favourite names for his son.
    • Later episodes (especially in the bonus content) establish that their children have become friends, with Ali's son gifting Graham's son his best nerf gun.
