Heartwarming / Jack The Grey Reef Shark

Go To

  • Jack and Mainda’s relationship. Period. In the short time that we got to see their romance blossom, we got a good idea of just how close they were. What makes this even more special is that the rest of Jack’s school and almost everyone he meets don’t bat an eye at an Interspecies Relationship and even outright support it. This all comes after Mainda was shunned by Lynn and Jack was scolded by his siblings, all of whom were against the two of them even being friends.
    • In A Legend from the Start, Mainda teaches Jack how to jump and spin, which becomes the catalyst for their relationship. Eventually it turns from a friendly lesson to an excuse just to spend time with each other in secret, since their respective schools did not like each other. A scene which is very familiar in the world of fiction.
  • Jack, Jay and Ken’s friendship leads to plenty of lighthearted shenanigans and sees the two sharks Jack has grown closest with since he set off on his journey. The icing on the cake is when the trio, along with a group of manta rays, start playing in some bioluminescent plankton that gathers around them. After all the turmoil he’s gone through, it’s refreshing to see Jack take a moment to enjoy himself and lift his spirits.
  • Susan's Rousing Speech in Jack's moment of despair. She echoes back all of the experiences Jack told her about and how he is a lot stronger now because of it. She also draws parallels between the reef and Jack. The reef routinely is destroyed and recreated. And if a reef can bounce back after so much adversity, then Jack can too.
  • The ending. Dear lord, that ending. All of Jack’s efforts finally pay off and the relocation of his school is successful. Even with the presence of humans, Jack is able to look past that and see the positive side, he finally has a place that has plenty of food for him and his friends. And he can finally settle down and enjoy his life without worrying about the future. Especially considering he’s been dragged through Hell and back, it just makes seeing him earn his happy ending all the more rewarding.
  • The relationship between Jack and his parents in A Legend from the Start. Even when it means being banished from their school, Bermino and Tia choose family over tradition
