Heartwarming / Good Time

• The film holds out on any kind of sincerely heartwarming scenes until the exact moment the credits start rolling. After 90 minutes of relentless bleakness and cynicism, the film simply ends with mentally disabled and emotionally stunted Nicky learning to interact with other people in a healthy way, via an interactive group therapy class for people like him.

• Connie is far from being a great brother, but it's extremely clear that he DOES love Nick. The whole plot is him trying to get his own brother out of Rikers. Not just that, but even his most selfish deeds in the movie are done purely because he feels Nick deserves better than him.
