  • Why is the language of the Asharites called Asharite? Presumably the language Ashar and his people spoke had a name before Ashar became a prophet.
    • Linguistic drift since the time of Ashar could have given the language a different name, particularly if there was significant cultural pressure towards re-envisaging even pre-existing aspects of proto-Asharite culture as derived from Ashar/the stars, or if the original name for the language had a similar sound that could acquire a folk etymology. A different possibility is that Asharite is an exonym, and ibn Bakir is thinking of it solely because he is currently dealing with Erlings who would use the exonym rather than an endonym.
