  • Geordi's technical involvement in the whole recreation process is a bit odd. Somehow, everyone agrees he's neither a relevant witness nor a potential accomplice. He's not seen as the guy who was there too, but as the guy who can help to program the holodeck.

  • Troi is at the hearing, but nobody asks her to assess if the witnesses are telling the truth or not. Picard could have argued this is as valuable as Tayna reporting what Nel Apgar told her.

  • Why did nobody ask for a forensic analysis of Riker's phaser or didn't even ask O'Brien if Riker was holding a phaser when he beamed him back?

  • Troi and La Forge say Nel Apgar had a way bigger financial interest to sell his developed power source as a weapon to the Romulans or the Ferengi instead of selling it to the Federation for civilian uses. Did energetic resources turn that unappealing in the 24th century compared to nowadays?
