Headscratchers / Resident Evil: The Final Chapter

Shouldn't they have stayed there

  • Why did Alice and the other girl move from where they were, as far as I could see they had a stable handhold to not get sucked into the fan.
    • They were heading towards the ladder the others in the group had clung to. The better question is why did Wesker decide to stop the fan after successfully sucking one of the intruders in?
      • He didn't. When they arrive Alice mentions that the area of the facility they are in is damaged and the power is fluctuating. That's why the fan is off to begin with and when Alice sees the lights ahead come on she realizes the power is fluctuating again and they need to move quickly through the fan.
      • Or B: He was offended by Abigail flipping him the bird and only had the power on long enough to kill one of them. It was good fortune that he got the one that offended him.
      • Or C: He turned it off because he didn't want to risk pureeing The Mole along with Alice.

Wrong credit?

  • Why was Dr. James Marcus credited as the creator of the T-Virus? Wasn't it created by Dr. Charles Ashford from the second movie to treat HIS daughter's disease?
    • The novel actually fixes a few things' including this, Dr Marcus created the Progenitor cell to heal his daughter, which only worked temporarily. Dr. Ashford refined it into the T-cell to heal HIS daughter but it had side effects if used too much, too often, which was then refined by the company into the T-virus.

Wesker's lies

  • Why did Wesker bother to lie to Alice about giving her powers back?
    • According to the novelization, he didn't lie. It made her insane and gave her powers back long enough for her to kill a rival Umbrella employee for Wesker, then they deactivated.

Why didn't his foot grow back?

  • Why Wesker was incapacitated from having his foot severed? As shown in Afterlife, he was able to regenerate from much more extensive damage.
    • Possibly he loses a bit of his own powers if he hasn't fed in recent enough time. Considering there weren't many people in the hive, he probably didn't have much food.
    • The foot may have been more trapped than severed. The weight on his mangled limb was so great that even his enhancements couldn't shift it. The same regeneration that normally helped him survive meant that he couldn't even saw off his own limb fast enough to escape.

How did she survive?

  • Why did Alice seem so adamant that the Airborne Anti-Virus would kill her? Even though she got re-powered at the end of the last movie, it was a fake-out and didn't last, so she wasn't more infected than the next person, and it was shown that while the virus "bonded" with her, if she had taken any of the vaccines she would be de-powered, with no lasting harm.
    • The Red Queen's description of the anti-virus made it sound as if anything that'd ever been affected by the T-virus would die. At the end, she explains that this was a deliberate test of Alice's commitment.

The Isaacs

  • In The Final Chapter, Dr. Isaacs reveals that he initiated the Hive outbreak, and the reason Alice had no memories was because she first “awoke” in the shower after the outbreak. I understand all that. But, re-watching the first movie, a few things popped up: Alice was Lisa and Matt’s contact on the inside; One and his team were sent in to capture the Red Queen, plus already knew Alice as a co-employee and security of the Hive mansion. How does all that fit in to all this?
    • It has been shown that clones can be programmable, I theorize that Spence was also a clone, as well as Alice, Alicia programmed Alice to try and take umbrella down, hence contacting Lisa and Matt, but Dr. Isaacs created Spence as a kind of "Start apocalypse incase of emergency" if Alice started trying to take down Umbrella, Spence would attempt to steal samples and cause an outbreak, kickstarting Dr. Issacs "Noah's Ark" plan, One and his team were sent in to shutdown the Red Queen due to the fact that as she states She values human life over anything, which she did, by locking down the Hive, but the issue was that one of Umbrellas "arks" was under the Hive, they needed the Zombies released, to start up the apocalypse, and to give them free access to the Hive, basically if my theory holds weight, Dr. Isaacs and Alicia were both trying to Outgambit each other with their clones, with Isaacs coming somewhat on top until the final movie, due to Spence doing exactly what he was designed to do and Alice being unable to really stop it.
