    Why is Tokyo there?
  • The Professor bringing Tokyo along for the heist is a little jarring. Due to everyone else having their own talents and skillsets except her and Denver, but at least Denver had a good reason to be there. To round it off, below is what all the robbers can do. Other than experience (which they all have, especially Berlin and Moscow), there seems to be no other reason to recruit her.
    • Berlin: A veteran at robbery and The Lancer to The Professor. He is the field leader and makes sure the plan is running smoothly while The Professor hands out instructions.
    • Nairobi: The forger. She is needed to install new serial numbers on the notes so that they can't be traceable to them. She is also in charge of the printing side of the operation.
    • Rio: The hacker and IT specialist. Other than alarms, he also set up the Professor's computer and comms set as shown in flashbacks.
    • Moscow: The one in charge of making the group's escape possible by digging an exit for them. He's also responsible for the decoy exit.
    • Denver: Admittedly, he has no skill that is highlighted, but he is Moscow's son and the two were a burglary duo. It's unlikely The Professor could have talked Moscow out of bringing him along if he tried.
    • Oslo and Helsinki: The muscle. Intimidating hostages and keeping them in line is their main task. And although it was likely not detailed in the plan, Berlin made good use of them to keep the other robbers in line when it suited him.
    • It seems to me that Tokyo was there to counterbalance Berlin. The Professor knew that Berlin was dying and was prone to bouts of megalomania. Thus he would be likely to diverge from the plan for his own glory. Tokyo on the other hand was shown to be very loyal to the Professor and insisted on sticking to the plan. YMMV if that worked out as the Professor planned but in the end she manages to distract Berlin long enough for the much stabler Nairobi to take control of the situation and finish the plan.
      • She is also good as an extra "muscle" as she is a decent fighter, just like Denver. There are many hostages and few robbers, so one or two extra hands can always be useful, especially as they have to sleep in shifts, and also as a reserve in case some of them are injured or killed.

Why are Berlín and The Professor friends?
  • The Professor is arguably the most moral person of the group and Berlin the least, so why do they act towards each other like they're close friends? Berlin does not hesitate to send get a hostage executed while the Professor is incapable of causing harm to Raquel's mother. I would understand if the Professor was just using him for his plans, but he seems to truly like him. Is this a case of people being friends since childhood and therefore more accepting of the other's person defects? The Professor calls Berlin his brother at one point so that could mean they grew up together, but no mention is made of the origin of their friendship.
    • As Season 3 reveals, they are actually brothers.

Why can't Berlín see that Ariadna is lying?
  • Several times, it is shown how Berlín usually notice when people lie to him, he even tells Arturo that he has a polygraph in his eyes. However, he actually believes that Ariadna loves him and wants to marry him. When I first watched the series, I believed he was aware she did not like him and was just taking advantage of the sex as a distraction and maybe as a sadistic person he liked using her and raping her out of her fear, but the scene where Nairobi overhears the girls talking in the bathroom and tells him seems to indicate that he did not know that. So how does Berlin, who is supposed to be very smart believe that the girl he has spent days tormenting does actually love him?
    • He probably did know it, but chose to act as if he didn't because it suited his mood.

    GEO's weapon choice during assault
  • During the assault in Episode 12 of Season 1, the GEO team sent used only machine guns and a couple smoke grenades. Is that really all they would use in such situation? No flashbangs, frag grenades, or snipers? They knew the robbers had a freaking heavy machine gun, and yet they show such astonishing restraint.
