Headscratchers / Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars

  • Throughout the game, you can find weapons on the red trash containers of Liberty City, put there by Ling Shan. But why Ling doesn't hide the weapons on a better place? What if the waste collectors come to pick up the trash? Then those weapons are lost money...
  • Let's be honest. If Ling was really the Lee Family's Master of Arms, how she was so easily killed by a thuggish Spanish Lord, when the playboy slaughters them easily? Shouldn't she have carried her gun with her or shot the Spanish Lord first while insulting her and Huang? Or did she really underestimate those Spanish lords and thought she could talk her way out after Kenny's reputation collapsed?
  • Even before the day of the street circuit race, how the champion didn't notice that his car had been sabotaged? The vehicle handled poorly and would make unexpected turns when Huang messed wit it, and he drove it to the race, with sparks still hopping out of it.
  • When Melanie betrays Chan and decides to air her drug documentary without censoring the faces and names of Huang and Chan, Chan sends Huang to Channel 15 to kidnap Melanie and destroy her documentary. Huang does so, kills the security guards and Melanie's cameraman and Melanie is executed by Chan at the end, but how this means that Melanie didn't show the footage to the channel executives first? Or she never had the chance?
  • When the Spanish Lords trick Chan into stealing a sabotaged speedboat of them to ambush him on Liberty City's seas, why the Spanish Lords just focused on shooting at the speedboat rather than at Chan himself? Surely this has something to do with game mechanics.
  • Hsin requests Huang to execute one of Chan's former henchmen who is now working as a FIB informant and asks him to shoot him from afar so the police can't put two and two and connect him to the crime. Unfortunately the vantage point is so close that Huang immediately gains a 3-star wanted level after the successful shot and is forced to evade the authorities, flushing all elements of stealth in the toilet.
  • How Huang was able to deceive the Angels of Death into thinking that he was Lester? Right, Huang was wearing Lester's black jacket, but even if they didn't see him from a close distance, they should have noted that "Lester" looks really thin but when he's accepted into the club he's now fat. It isn't like he got fat from one day to another...
  • How Huang never suspected that Rudy was a crossdresser if his second, third and fourth encounters with him were in female clothing stores? He didn't think that a female clothing store wasn't like a site for a meeting with a mob boss?
  • When Huang goes to search Rudy in the locations they met previously, why he didn't go to the graveyard? It was there where they first met. By the way, why D'Avanzo cited Huang there the first time they met instead of a clothing store? A crowded clothing store is less likely to be attacked by the Messinas...
  • Why Chan and Zhou, when Huang came to kill them respectively, didn't think on using their vehicles to escape while Huang was distracted? In Chan's case, he could have taken his car and drive away while Huang was fighting his way out of the warehouse, and in Zhou's case, he was piloting a freakin' helicopter that could have been a quick escape! If they both considered their options, they might be able to get their names cleared when Heston reveals the truth to Huang.
    • Huang hates them and has so many excuses of getting them killed, but they both still think that Huang is their ally. Chan always seen Huang as a friend and Zhou thought that Huang would be stupid if he attack him. While someone can argue that Zhou could have just left when he got in to the helicopter after a failed attempt at explaining himself, he was probably just taking an opportunity to kill Huang and, in his egoism, thought he could win.
  • At the end, Wade arrests Hsin for his actions and the police takes Hsin away. But if the police hasn't noticed it, Hsin is lying in a pool of his own blood after having been slashed by Kenny, so what guarantees that he's going to arrive alive at the police station? Why don't they take him to a hospital first? Or did they?
    • Given the cops are generally corrupt and antagonistic, they might have just let him bled to death. Heston claims to be corrupt himself, and was involved in this mess to advance his career while helping Huang, so it didn't matter if Hsin lived or not as long as they get to the end of this. Even if Hsin lived, though, the Triads are left leaderless.
  • Wade also states at the end that all people present in Hsin's penthouse are under arrest. It could refer to whoever else that's in the estate, but beyond the authorities, Huang is exempt, and Hsin is the only other living person on-screen.
