Headscratchers / Garfield: His 9 Lives

  • So, why is this book out of print again? I mean, every other piece of Garfield merchandise has been released on the Garfield website. Including the His 9 Lives animated special! Why not reprint the book if you're willing to keep its movie adaptation in print?
    • My best guess is that it's related to the rather terrifying nature of Primal Self.
  • Is this book actually canon in the Garfield newspaper comic universe?
    • I don't think there's really a rigidly defined canon.
  • What urged Garfield (or "Tigger") to go savage in Primal Self? Was it literally something he drank?
    • I doubt there's a right answer here. But it seems Tigger was the victim of some sort of regression to an instinctual, if primal animal state, just like the title implies. Either by some mental breakdown of unknown cause, or literal possession or manipulation from dark feline-related entities.
    • Everything I saw made it look like literal demonic possession, or something of that nature.
    • Rabies is a definite possibility.
