The whole point of the movie is that Curs>r is a forgotten 1980s game by an obscure developer nobody can find any info about. The problem is, the software house somehow got Robert Englund (not a character played by him, the actor himself) to promote the challenge that will reward anyone who can beat the game with money. Unless it's yet another trick by the curse to make the game appear more legitimate (and even then it wouldn't make much sense), how can something linked to a world-famous celebrity pass completely unnoticed for decades, in an era when amateur sleuths obsess over even the most obscure stuff? And even without Englund, how can something that offers such a huge sum of money for its completion not be the object of at least a few newspaper articles of the time about it?

  • There are at least two things: The first one is that the game was only released to a few people, all of whom suffered and died. "Dead men tell no tales" as the saying goes. The other thing is that this game manipulates reality. So it could be that people have talked about the game but that information got scrubbed from the Internet thanks to the reality-bending powers of the Curse.
  • Another thing is that Englund has probably done any number of projects over the span of his career and not all projects get off the ground. He may not remember it, could be easily confused with another project, or just isn't notable enough to get a mention.
  • Finally, there were no mentions in any newspapers because Beck likely made the decision not to make any announcements. Otherwise, if people knew that the game was actually dangerous, Beck would expose himself to public scrutiny. Or the shadier elements of the US Government could pursue him so they'd have access to the Curse.
