  • When searching for a nanny, why does Tom keep advertising that he has 12 children when 3 of them are young adults who obviously don't need a sitter?
    • Tom is in over his head and isn’t thinking rationally about whether the older kids can handle themselves.
    • He's probably so used to saying that over the years, that he automatically defaults to saying that he has twelve children instead of explaining that he only has nine that actively need looking after.
    • He does mention at one point that one doesn't live with him and one usually isn't around, but that doesn't help.
