Funny / The Creator (2023)

• Joseph teasingly asks Maya how she knows their unborn child is actually his. She replies they'll know if the child turns out to be as big of an asshole as Joseph.
• A woman is screaming at US soldiers from the side of her colleague who was just gunned down; this is not funny. What is funny is that she's not speaking English so the handheld translator kicks in.
  Translator: Please make love to yourself, then go make love to your mother.
  • The handheld translator becomes another source of black comedy later, when a simulant farmer tries reassuring Alfie in his native Thai that he will kill Joshua to save her, counting on the language barrier to help him keep the element of surprise. This time however, the device perfectly translates what the farmer is saying, and there's a brief moment where Joshua and the farmer share a knowing look before they attack each other.
• Robot police fire a grenade into the garage where Joshua is hiding only for a dog to play fetch, taking it back to the police outside where it detonates. As Joshua drives away, the unharmed dog is barking at the damaged robots trying to locate their missing pieces.
• McBride and Howell kill the driver of the police car driving them, causing it to swerve and roll over. As the locals approach the road, the two soldiers drive away as McBride leans out the window to claim he missed their turn.
• While breaking through a security checkpoint in a local family's car, the family members are understandably terrified by the erratic driving and guns firing on them. Except for the young son, who's having the time of his life. After reaching safety, Joshua asks if everyone had fun; the family is all terrified, except for the son who happily raises his hand.
• Kami asks Alphie if she wants anything.
  Alphie: For robots to be free.
  Kami: Oh. We don't have that in the fridge. How about ice cream?
  [Alphie nods with an eager smile]
  • There's something slightly funny about the simulant police officer posing as an ice cream delivery driver, even requesting that Kami leave him a good review... right before he blows her up with concealed explosives. Adding to this is Kami's reaction when discovering the bomb.
  Kami: Ah, fu-
  (BOOM)
• In the past, Drew is giving Joshua his mission to get close to Maya and hands him a ring containing a tracker. Joshua feigns delight at the unexpected proposal only for Drew to respond he's out of Joshua's league.
