Book 1 - Ravenous
- The Heretic Seed system messages get pretty snarky, especially early on, when it is desperately trying to get Digby to increase his intelligence so that he can do something interesting.
- Rebecca is horrified when she witnesses Digby feed for the first time. Then Digby realizes that she's eating while she watches.
Book 2 - Revenant
- In the two weeks since the escape from Seattle, Digby has been educating himself on the modern world... by watching zombie movies.
- Digby orders Alex to demonstrate magic to the soldiers. There's a long awkward pause, and then Alex points out that his magic is too subtle to really be used as proof. Digby sighs and orders Rebecca to handle it instead.
- Rebecca has a vague idea to download all of the internet to preserve human knowledge, but she isn't all that worried about it. That is, until Alex points out that if she waits too long, all that will be left will be all the zombie stuff she downloaded onto Digby's tablet. She is horrified at the idea of future generations having to learn history from Highschool of the Dead.
Book 3 - Rend
- The first thing the coven does when they reach Vegas? Watch Ocean's Eleven. Digby watches it three more times while the humans sleep.
- After spending most of the book lying to the Vegas survivors, Digby dramatically tells them that there are tens of thousands of revenants nearby. There's a long pause, and then someone asks what a revenant is. Digby then remembers that they hadn't gotten around to telling the civilians the real name of the "shriekers."
- Just as he's gotten past the stuff about the revenants, Skyline, and magic, Digby refers to zombies as "my kind" in front of the civilians. They pick up on that quickly, and he tries to change the subject.Digby: Listen here, you. We do not have the time to discuss who among us may or may not be a zombie.
