There’s a third option to the saving-the-Nephites question that would satisfy Joshua’s desires AND leave the timeline intact. Go back and save just a few Nephites with the manpower you have. You can feel you’ve saved your adopted people AND you allow the Book of Mormon to still play out.
They say Joshua doesn’t get along with other kids because he’s too outdoorsy. Why isn’t he doing Boy Scouts? Or Cub Scouts? He’d be great at that. Utah loves Scouts.
